Neurodiagnostic Technician (Night Shift)(PRN) - Respiratory Therapy

Job Summary:
- Review history, physical information, medications, procedure request, and study protocol.
- Explain the procedure and orient the patient to the sleep center.
- Maintains knowledge of the various methods of oxygen delivery, including the necessary equipment. Remains alert assesses possible side effects
to oxygen delivery.
- Follows departmental equipment sterilization procedures.
- Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper
functioning and adjust, if necessary.
- Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.
- Perform appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and adjust, if necessary.
- Perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting.
- Follow procedural protocols (such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT). Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, etc.) to ensure collection of appropriate data.
- Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
- Implement appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bilevel positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.).
- Performs all additional duties as assigned by the department director or
supervisor.
Skills/Educational Requirements:
- Certified Polysomnographic Technologist (CPSGT) required
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RSPGT) preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) credential required.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred, or able to obtain within six (6) months of hire at AVRMC.
