Patient Access Clerk (2nd Shift Friday - Monday) - Admissions

**Schedule will be 2nd Shift Friday through Monday 10-Hour Shifts after Training Period has ended***

Job Summary:
- Arranges for the efficient and orderly admission of inpatients and of individuals who have hospital-based outpatient testing and procedures.
- Ensures that the patient information is accurately collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.
- Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer database.
- Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments.
- Participates in performance improvement.
- Demonstrates ability to be flexible, organized and functions well in stressful situations.
- Follows through with assignments and informs supervisor if unable to complete task(s).
- Maintains a 95% or better registration accuracy rate.
- When work is complete, seeks additional tasks.
- Answers the phone promptly and professionally, and handles calls appropriately.
- Takes personal responsibility to provide exceptional customer service, to promote and maintain a positive image of AVRMC.
-Promotes pride and professionalism in the workplace.
- Accurately posts patient payments to the correct patient account.
- Balances cash and detail batch reports for each individual cash drawer.
- Obtains signature on Conditions of Admission.
- Responsible to collect copays when required and any other type of patient payments.
- Responsible for knowing hospital policies and being familiar with hospital services that are available.
- Consistently refers patients to Financial Counselor when financial arrangements need to be made.
- Makes general and emergency announcements over the facility’s PA system timely and accurately.

Skill/Educational Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality is required.
- Basic Computer Skills
- Prior hospital registration experience
- Multi-tasking, organizational, problem solving.
- Experience in customer service.
